Diversity & Inclusion Mentorship Program
The goal of this program is to provide free advice, tutorage, and connections to artists underrepresented in the Motion Design Industry. By pairing dash staff with emerging creatives who identify with the BIPOC or POC community, we’ll use our resources and network to help prepare a new generation of artists, with a variety of backgrounds, for a career in the Motion Design space.
Mentorship Details
-
Dash is a high-end animation and motion design studio that believes in the power of creativity and community. We think the best work happens together which is why every project utilizes teams of creatives to solve problems and find the best solution possible.
-
From the moment of our inception, we’ve strived to connect and invest within our own industry. From collaborating with freelancers all around the world to giving back to the community through conferences and design internships, the success of dash and the broader Motion Design community has been tied together. That’s why we’ve launched a new mentorship program specifically for BIPOC and POC communities to provide more opportunities to historically disadvantaged groups in the Motion Design space.
-
To connect industry professionals with rising BIPOC and POC talent for the purpose of fostering meaningful connections and education. Ultimately we want to see the industry be just as diverse as our population and we feel we can help achieve that goal by assisting creatives on their industry journeys.

Expectations:
Every mentorship is different and we are happy to provide tools and advice that’s tailored towards your needs. To start, we’ll set up expectations for the partnership starting with correspondence and frequency. How often would you like to meet and how would you like to communicate?
Second, is how we want to structure those meetings. Are you interested in receiving project feedback, general check-in sessions, morale chats, or advice? The important part of this program is how we address the needs of the mentee and how a mentor can reasonably deliver on those expectations. Here are a few examples of topics:
Portfolio specific meetings
Professional development / coaching
General advice sessions
Industry expectations
Personal project coaching
Duration of the mentorship:
Each mentorship program will last approximately six months but the timeline can vary depending on the needs of the mentee.
Commitment:
To get the most out of the program, mentors and mentees should plan on communicating at least once a month, but how you communicate is up to you! It can be casual, such as email, DM, text, etc. or more formal with an in-person meeting or zoom call. We ask the very first meeting be a video call to set up that cadence, but the rest is up to you; just be clear on expectations.
-
Any POC or BIPOC individual between the ages of 18-25 pursuing a career in the Motion Design industry. Applicants are not required to be enrolled in a 4 year college program.
