DETAILS

ShareFile needed to find a way to maximize a budget to create multiple videos around their professional service offerings. Normally this might be a tall ask to turn one video into six, but thinking about scalability upfront and planning for flexibility made us think about .mogrts: a customized template for after effects and premier files. Using a containerized approach with our motion ensured we had a library of animated movements that could be rearranged and adjusted for modularity across all the videos. These containers also ensured we could substitute photos or visuals with ease and extend the shelf life of any video.

DISCOVERY

ShareFile’s modernized brand is future forward as they help customers embrace digital-first workflows that prioritizes automation with top-tier security features. The core of this renewed brand identity is ease and we wanted to reflect that perspective in the motion of the piece. Pairing the containerized approach mentioned above with smooth, precise motion, we started playing around with motion tests and what the systemization could look like.

Scripting & Ideation

Identifying the modular components of each script helped to break down the amount of bespoke graphics vs templatized areas. In the “What is ShareFile for Accounting” script, verbiage highlighted yellow described language that would be swapped-out per video and the blue highlights defined the visuals that would be swapped out per vertical.

In addition to exploring modularity in the script, we also wanted to include some of the new 3d branding from ShareFile’s new look into select moments of the story. Their new logomark uses a checkmark to capture that feeling of checking off all the boxes from start to finish – without any roadblocks. Below is a series of initial 3d style frame explorations on how this checkmark could come to life in the animation.

Pre-Production

Following script and visual approval, our next step was to build keyframes for the animation. Keyframes, when paired with the script, visualize exactly what imagery will be on screen at a given time. Unlike storyboards which are rough sketches, keyframes are used when a piece has a lot of collage, photographic, or live-action moments. Following approval of the boards, we move to an animatic which shapes the overall pacing of the project so we can solidify timing.

Following the completion of the first video, our team began work on the templitization process in After Effects and Premier. While the final deliverables did require some fundamental knowledge of the adobe suite, they were constructed in a way that allowed for easy manipulation through development of “essential properties” within the After Effects and Premier which lead to easy creation of subsequent videos like “ShareFile for Legal Professionals” highlighted below.
